Roughness is by all account not the only move that ought to be made
towards oppressors. A few casualties of abuse have succeeded in battling
against persecution through peaceful activities. For instance, Martin
Luther King Jr. has slowly affected numerous people through his
discourses and walks. Viciousness isn't just an image of being abused.
Brutality can be perpetrated from multiple points of view. Truth be
told, savagery can be brought on upon the individuals who are the
oppressors. There are various activities that could be shared to
conflict with abuse, a few including quiet strikes, discourses, and
walks.
In my opinion it depends on the situation and how badly
they are being oppressed and when to take action because in some
situations it may not be such a big thing and can deal with it another
way but then there are times were violence just has to happen in order
to get your point across. Because if violence was never used to get a
point across then i feel the world and society today would be totally
different as it is there are many people whom feel like they can treat
and talk to certain people however they feel just because they are
"wealthy" or the government would probably still have something in the
area of slavery so for that reason there is always a need for violence
however it depends on the situation you may be in.

Argumentation #5
Slavery in the
U.S captured the eyes in America quicker than any other movement before
it, especially during the Civil War. During, and before the civil war,
many were treated badly, mostly African Americans were slaves during
that era and mostly all of them were uneducated. The slaves were treated
as animal or toys. When slaver was abolished after the Civil War, the
idea of slavery is still kept alive thats why they never got anything in
return from being mistreated by the whites.
I support Thomas Sowell's idea of refuting reparations because its true that slavery harmed a lot of African Americans. However, it happen more than 200 years ago and most of the slaves back then is probably dead by now. If you give the African Americans in present day reparations, they would only benifited what happen to the real slaves. You go out to the society today, you probably wont find anybody who is suffering from slavery. If you give them their reparations now, after 200 years, you will probably start the slavery trend of thought back, making them think like a prisoner again. It will start more trouble then it ever started with. If you give everybody reparations then the rich folks would also get them too or the one not in need. If you give the ones in need only then the other African American will also say that "why did he get but I didn't" or pretending to suffer from slavery so they could get the reparations. True reparations should be done, but it should be done 200 years ago rather than now, the society is settling right now why digged up what has been buried. I believed that no evidence - based attempt has been made to prove that a living individuals have been adversely affected by a slave system. Right now was not as bad as it was before the slave - owners died already and including the slaves.

Henry Lyman Morehouse claim is not right. I believe every individual has
the right to higher education. This country proclaims that every person in the United States of America
can make their dreams come true since this country is full of
opportunity. That may not be the case but it still doesn't take away
their opportunity for upward mobility. As part of minority, I grew up in a low-income community were society
sees the majority of us as failures or future failures. They only see
The Talented Tenth. The Talented Tenth may have started over 100 years
ago but society still believes in it. And in a way they started to
believe that every race has their Talented Tenth. With the program
Seminar and Gate it demonstrates how society has created special
programs for the Talented Tenth could be recruited and be on their own
little circle. Since Elementary school we notice the distinctive the
teachers make between students. By The "Talented Tenth" being put in
separate groups and classes makes the rest of the students feel inferior
to them and start to think "why try when all of the attention and hope
of succeeding in on them; the Talented Tenth."
Instead of helping every child in succeeding the district hand picks them and puts them in special programs just for them. This just worsen things. This kids are chosen with test taken in 2nd and 5th grade which is ridicoulous becuase their are kids who want to succeed and go to college who did not pass the test, myself included. I took the test in 5th grade and i was so close but i didnt reach the level the district wanted me to reach therefore, i wasnt consider the Talented Tenth. When i got to 6th grade and by best friend was in Gate she would brag about it and say that she was smart because she was in the gate program. Every time she will brag about being in the Gate program i would feel inferior and think im not smart enough, why am i here? From personal experience i know that this test and special programs for the Talented Tenth only makes the rest of us feel less.

There is an idea that we must challenge today. Those two debates are between cowards. The reason behind the actions you do is what draws the line
between a hero and a coward. There are people that are so nationalistic that they're willing to do for their country. Others would go home hoping to expect that they come back a hero. If you're fighting for the
end reward, why fight? There are many other ways to look great, ways
that that person may be passionate about.
The things we do always have a reason behind them; that reason is what counts. Are you doing the things for vain reasons or because you're really passionate about it? Cowardice and courageous coexist in a world that commonly throws them around and truly use the write connotation of the words. For example, some people say walking away from a fight is a cowardly act, or is that person freely being the bigger person by walking away? By realizing that there is more important things in their life but to risk it over emotions that are gonna last an hour? Being able to distinguish the two is what counts. Being courageous and cowardice is defined behind the true reasons of someones actions.

Mr. Dier, you probably watch many films in your life and interpret them many different ways. However, you need to see a film that will make you appreciate life than you already have. You may have criticize many but the film Slumdog Millionaire is a movie that reshapes the idea of what a life is. Many people take for granted the things we have and you may be one of them.
"Slumdog Millionaire" bridges these two Indias by cutting between a world of poverty and the Indian version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." It tells the story of an orphan from the slums of Mumbai who is born into a brutal existence. A petty thief, impostor and survivor, mired in dire poverty, he improvises his way up through the world and remembers everything he has learned. In these moments of realization, one of our topics covered in class is realism. This movie depicts realism of a country looked down upon. This will open up your mind and explore a different perspective in life that you'll appreciate more.

Argumentation #1
The whole controversy over the Gold and White dress, or is it blue and black, is pointless This is basically what portrays our society as being stupid. It becomes even more motivated when someone says, "Hey what a pretty Blue and Black dress" corresponding with
fifteen likes. What color is the dress? It is in fact a blue and black
dress, but how can that be when others viewed it as completely
different?
People only feed in to this situation because they feel left out and out of the "debate". Although why does this matter? Why is it important that some see
the dress as blue and others white? It shows the different perspectives
people have and nothing is ever black and white... or in this case black
and blue. Everyone has their own opinions no matter how stupid it can be, and no one but yourself can accept right and wrong.
Assertion Analysis #12
Ralph Waldo Emerson expresses about the individuality of
human kind.Everyone is unique and different in their own way. Individuality begins when it he writes "we
will speak our own minds..." and "each believes himself inspired by the
divine soul". Both quotes speak about how each persons is their own
individual, that they have their own minds. When Emerson states "A
nation of men will for the first time exist" I believe he is talking
about Democracy. How the United States was the first democratic country
in the Americas.
A rhetorical device Emerson uses is repetition. Ralph Waldo Emerson repeats the phrase; "we will..." giving it the words more emphasis. By him doing this he portrays his willingness to get his point across. Also by repeating this two words it establishes how all this things haves something in common, similar in some extent.

Assertion Analysis #11
Pastor Martin Niemoller excerpts describe many different emotions and feelings. He portrays the indifference he had towards other ethnic groups when they faced
oppression in Germany. Then when it came time for himself to be added to
the list, there was no one left to speak up for him. Once everyone was claimed, he should've spoken up for those that weren't even him. What he stood to believe is when he should've had a say.
Pastor Niemoller uses many rhetorical devices. One of them is anaphora. When he explains the phrase, "Then they came for..."; as he lists off all the groups that were effected. These were people like the communists, the Catholics, and more. Then, the list finally ends with him. He made it seem regretful and ashamed of what hes done. His indifference is made clear in his anaphora of the phrase, "I wasn't...", followed up by the oppressed group.

Assertion Analysis #10
Since Cotton Mather was a Puritan Minister, he was always against the devil. In the excerpt, he says "Ye monsters
are bubbling deep", "monsters" being the devil or any devious beings.
The connections with the devil are made by him seeing the words deep and monsters. Historically, puritans believe the devil is basically us. "Bubbling"
and "Wag your tails about" may show that they are always present. Anyone and everyone is in harms way.
He uses personification and irony in his little excerpt. Personification is used when he tells the devil-like beings to "wag your tails". These are based a purely spiritual beliefs. Cotton Mather uses irony through the whole excerpt. He is taunting the beings in a friendly manner when he says "wag your tails". He uses a calmer and friendlier tone to taunt them to take action, but obviously he is completely against them.

Assertion Analysis #9
Martin Luther King felt that no upcoming leaders would
care about the rights for African American so he decided to step up himself and establish himself as a political leader. African American culture has been changed while white people think
of it as changing blacks into their culture, and they think of
it as destroying their culture and pride. The negroes efforts to change
and fight for their pride is plummeting towards the ground. America has
not paid attention towards blacks and their problems, such as
economics. As a result, negroes were willing to cause uproars and riots.
Martin Luther King uses lots of rhetoric devices in his speech, one of them was aepetition. He uses the term "Negros" in his speech to promote the idea that negros are the ones being targeted. If you were the reader or audience seeing a term using repeatedly you would know that it is a serious deal in that situation. By using repetition in the speech, Martin Luther King was able that emphasize the meaning of the speech.

Assertion Analysis #8
John Winthrop wants the Puritans to accomplish a sense of a reality check. His people must be followers where other cultures and religions can look upon to. When the author writes, "City upon a Hill" it is a reference to the Bible, that John
Winthrop used to exploit to the people that they would be like Jesus
on the mount. Their actions would be observed by the world, their
behavior and act will be a reflection of God and if they fail to
believe they will be cursed. John Winthrop was a demanding person and
his speech indicated he was a strict person and his followers had to
also follow this strict way of life. The speech is directed to Puritans,
John Winthrop wrote this speech in order to warn the Puritans not to
lost sight of their religion and faith in God.
He continues with this subliminal message by explaining if they act a certain way the effect of being watched critically can result in your mistakes being publicized and to be used derogatorily against you plus others around you. Winthorp's main concern is that God will listen to this criticism being made and have judgement towards you not allowing you into heaven.

Assertion Analysis #7
In Hunkpapa, Lakotas statement explains how defending himself
and race toward the white race is a primal instinct. He shouldn't feel pressured to be assimilated into the white culture. In the text he writes," If the Great Spirtit desired
me to be white man he would have made me so in the first place".
Lakota feels as though his race and culture should never be changed . If he chooses his path to death, he would die in honor of his true self.
Also, he will defend his race to the day he dies. I almost feel as maybe
he is intimidated by the white race . only because it seems as if he
has something to prove to them.Throughout the text he uses syntax with
is short and simplistic sentences to assert his quick points. He uses Logos by reasons to know
the white race will only try to force their culture upon them .

Assertion Analysis #6
Chief Joseph is done with how he has lost
so many people through out his life and how painful it was. Now they
have nothing. His children are gone, driven by the mad white folks because they ran
into the hills with no food, water or blankets. As a father, without his children he'd be nothing more with nothing left in his life.. The author uses a couple
rhetorical devices with asserting his tired-like tone by like saying, "From where the sun stands now i will
fight no more forever". He says this trying to say that he
is done fighting he has done all he could for his people. He also says,
"No ones knows where they are- perhaps freezing to death". The situation escalated to its worse and cannot be recovered from it.
Assertion Analysis #2
Elie Wiesel's view of the world is indifference. Indifference being lack of interest or concern. Americans have become indifferent. There is no hate, no ugliness just people who have become indifferent. Americans have become so indifferent that they no longer care of what is going on in the world around them, they only care of themselves. Americans have become indifferent, that they no longer care if we go into war or that we, humans, are destroying the Earth. It is way easier for Americans to avoid what's going on around them then actually care of what's happening. Americans are indifferent.
Throughout his assertion, Wiesel uses rhetorical devices to support his claim. He uses anaphora and repetition like "The opposite of" and "indifference" to catch the viewers attention and state his argument. He also has syntax, in which he makes sentences short and straight to the point. " The opposite of beauty is not ugliness, it's indifference." His mood throughout his assertion is negative. "Indifferent" is a negative feeling in which people become, and throughout his assertion he repeats indifferent so much to show how important it is and to remind the audience that we have become indifferent.
Assertion Analysis #1
The
article started off with a more serious mood for the first sentence and throughout the rest of the passage he alternates
between being proper and sarcastic tones. I believe that he tries to imply his
sarcasm to emphasized the rest of the passage . Towards the beginning of the passages, he explains
"lady and gentleman" which could possible lead to him speaking specifically to
certain people. Through context the story explains ,"my parents sacrificed so much
for this dream " you can assume it may be his parents .
That story shows a struggle or an obstacle that had to be overcome and further on. He also says " that is why we must journey on" which further proves my claim. There is a shift in Greens' tone when he starts using exclamation marks, as if he was preaching to the two people he was talking to. However, the tone Green portrays mainly is praising his parents for having this dream to fufill. They wanted their son to live the American Dream.

Assertion Analysis #3
Jonathan Swift displays the hidden arts of a broomstick. The author explains that we are "strong
and lusty, in a thriving condition, wearing his own hair on his head." Nevertheless, as we wait for time to continue, we start to lose those "hairs" similar the the resemblance of hair on a broomstick. Swift's main message is explained in one of his excerpts, "Partial
judges that we are of our own excellencies, and other men's defaults!"
The use of imagery Swift uses further explains how those with the
"strong, lusty hair in thriving condition" have been tricked by their
society.
They take different indignities towards these approaches with the false presentation they put on, which Swift explains "puts on a periwig, valuing himself upon an unnatural bundle of hairs." In a different perspective, people take pride in their imperfections, leaving the "bundle of hairs" the society forces them to use. Swift starts off this excerpt with sarcasm and imagery, trying to make his point. Then he switches to a serious attitude to further explain his extended metaphor.

Assertion Analysis #5
In a nation where pillaging was brought upon through brute brutality and some compromises, the Native Americans see the civilized men as a virus. They infected the Native Americans by implying that they need help in their undeveloped civilizations. John Lemme Deer sarcastically explains that the Native Americans were helpless, and they were a dying nation needing order in their lives. "We were in really bad shape before the white men arrived and I don't know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society." Rhetorical devices the author uses are an assertive tones of context used to describe the ungrateful white society.

Assertion Analysis #4
In order to deliver a master-piece of a story, one must conjoin not only his thoughts but his experiences. He says, "accommodating his incidents; but having conceived" where he wants the writer/poet to utilize a powerful literacy tool to have an everlasting effect on the reader. It the author hasn't caught the readers attention within there story at the mere beginning, it was a failure from the start. The human creates the story, not the story. Thus, there is no limits or end to the novels because only you decide when the story leaves off on.
Edgar Allen Poe utilizes a dark tone to be set with the readers and others that acknowledges his work. He tells other writers to use experiences to drive emotions and their writings. His mockery exposes other less-experienced writers to follow his footsteps to have a literary piece of art. Poe said that because his own life had harsh experiences which formulated his sick, dark mind. To have your own experiences into the story can help build a backbone to the overall setting of the novel.
